A Little About Me...
I am a big fan of getting to know my students. Consequently, they will need to get to know me. To begin with, I am a self-confessed NERD of the old-school variety. Yes, I try to keep up on the latest video game, and I do love to see a good action flick, but my first love is the classic period (The 80s and 90s). I fondly remember when my Commodore 64 used a tape recorder to save my programs, while listening to the GI Joe TV show and trying not to blow up from mixing Pop Rocks and Coke. I did the NERD activities: played arcade games, collected comic books and argued over the terrible inaccuracies of the Michael Keaton portrayal of Batman.
I do have some un-Nerdy qualities too. I am an avid backpacker and camper. I have excavated a prehistoric whale from a cliff side. I love to travel, especially to Louisiana and Texas. I have never left the country, but I am looking forward to doing so.
I attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg for my undergraduate degree. Teaching was not my first choice profession. The law was my calling, until I did community service in a GED program. I taught adults how to read and hooked a few on good sci-fi literature. I changed my major and became a teacher. I have been teaching almost 20 years now in the "Old North State". I have a Master's Degree from ECU in school administration.
I am very happily married and I have one son. We have a sneaky dog who likes to eat pens and socks.
